Ben Crump has been asked by families of the victims to investigate the tragedy that unfolded on December 10, 2021, when a 400,000 sq. foot  Amazon fulfillment warehouse  was severely  damaged by a  direct hit from a tornado.  On a weekend where severe weather was forecast and tornados likely,  it is critical that companies such as Amazon have a robust Emergency Response Plan, including an immediate Tornado Warning Alarm designed to allow for employees to be quickly  and safely sheltered. Especially when Amazon does not allow its employees to have their cell phones with them on the job and thus cannot receive  their own Tornado alerts. It falls directly on Amazon  to assure that life-saving safety plans, with specific, detailed instructions to keep workers safe,  are implemented and practiced.

Attorney Ben Crump has been hired by the victims to investigate Amazon's actions prior to the tornado hitting the warehouse.

In southern Illinois, in Edwardsville, an Amazon distribution warehouse was hit by a tornado, causing massive damage to the facility, officials said. The EF-3 tornado had peak winds of at least 155 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

At least six people died in the collapse, Illinois Gov. J. B. Pritzker said Saturday evening. One person was receiving medical treatment, he added, with the effort shifting to a search and recovery mission.

Several dozen workers were able to escape from the building on their own, Edwardsville Police Chief Michael Fillback said Saturday morning.

The tornado struck Edwardsville at around 8:30 pm Friday evening. Authorities did not know the exact number of people in the building because the warehouse does not employ a "set staff" but Amazon management was assisting with accounting for workers, Fillback said.

At Saturday's press conference, he said search and rescue operations were difficult because of loose power lines, unsecured concrete, and excess water from the warehouse's fire suppression system.
Drone footage from the scene around the warehouse showed rescue workers picking through a huge area of debris in the pre-dawn darkness.

Ben Crump is investigating the tragedy that unfolded December 10, 2021, at the Amazon fulfillment center in Edwardsville, IL. We want to make certain that Amazon did everything in their power to warn their employees of the incoming danger from the tornado and provided a designated safe area for employees to shelter. Proper protocols must be established and followed to ensure the safety of the warehouse workers and that such an event never happens again.  Just 3 years ago a tornado struck an Amazon Warehouse in Baltimore, MD killing 2 people.  We had hoped that the lessons learned from Baltimore would save lives in the future.

We need assistance from employees at the Amazon fulfillment center to help understand what happened on December 10th. What warnings were given?  What procedures were followed?
We NEED to get answers for the families that lost their loved ones.

  WHEN EVERY SECOND MATTERS

Did Amazon do  everything in its power to warn their own employees of the  danger from the approaching tornado and provide a designated safe area for employees to shelter?

What lessons did Amazon learn and what changes were made to its building design?

For those who lost loved ones these questions must be answered.
